Kaplan PCAT Class at UHH March 20, 2009

Aloha,
We are trying to set up the Kaplan PCAT test course aiming for the students to take the August PCAT. We need to know how many students are interested, in interested we need you to be fairly sure you would take the course. In class UH Hilo PCAT class Saturdays 9am-12noon, starting in beginning May through to the August PCAT, test date is August 22.
Kaplan has a higher score guarantee:
1. readiness - if you are not ready you can continue to study with them
2. satisfaction - you can take the course again
3. money back guarantee – you will score higher than your diagnostic test score
For the guarantee you must attend all classes, complete required homework and tests – you can make up classes online
The cost for in class is $999. There will be 10 scholarships of $500 each available which students must apply for, details will follow. This cuts the cost in half. There is also an online course for $799 and a live online course for $999. Please let me know if these are the options which you prefer. I need to know by Monday if you think you are highly interested and would take the course here in Hilo, or the online course. We need to give Kaplan the opportunity to find and train the teacher in time for the course. Students from UHM Pre-Pharm Association would like to meet students from UH Hilo and ask questions about the campus, courses, etc. Pizza will be provided. First meeting for Spring 2009 semester:
- We will be making Valentine’s Day cards for the elderly during the 2nd week of February.
- Kaplan PCAT Practice Exam: Will be held on Saturday Feb. 7, 2009 9am-11:30am in Wentworth 1. No cost to apply. Please let Donna know by Monday February 2, 2009. Contact info.: dohora@hawaii.edu or prepharm@hawaii.edu
- Mock Interviews: Please submit times you are available M-F after 5pm. Before interview please bring a brief 1/2-1 page summary about yourself. Dress code: casual.
- NID program: Internship in pharmacology available. Please conact Donna Ohora for details and application.
- PIPES: Dr. Awaya is looking for interested pre-pharm students to intern as an researcher during the summer. Please contact awayaj@hawaii.edu for more information and before applying. Intructions to application materials available at http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/uhintern
- T-shirt design: Club shirts will be green colored. If you have any pre-pharm t-shirt design ideas, please submit them to Donna.

We will be having a back to school meeting on Thursday, January 29 from 4:45-6:30. It will be a potluck so please bring something for everyone to share. Please leave a comment stating what you are bringing so we won’t have too much of one thing. We will also have the Wii so if you have games or controllers and don’t mind, please bring them down. This meeting is very important because not only will be having fun we will go over some important events that are coming up in the future.
We hope to see all there and even more. =)
